The fall in the number of bank robberies is due to persistent and concentrated work in banks to improve security. This has also involved the Central Bank of Denmark and many other organisations. For example, we have established common standards for handling cash.
The biggest benefit of the decreasing number of bank robberies in recent years is that bank employees and customers are subjected to bank robberies, which can be very violent experiences, much less often.
In addition to improving security, the increasing use of electronic payments by Danes has also reduced the need for cash. By continuing to develop new payment solutions, we can maintain a development away from cash - less cash, less crime.
The number of bank robberies in the current and past years are published every quarter approx. one month after the end of a quarter.
